canister transformation...

i am always switching, changing, reinventing things around my home....twice to three times a year i take my cheap little canisters that sit on my kitchen counter and give them a face lift... for spring i thought i would lighten them up with these pretty papers i found at the scrapbook store...they went from winter flowers to whimsical blue and white...re-create your everyday things...it's easy with some pretty papers and a glue gun!!

a visit to vintage home....

....good friends...beautiful finds....inspiring surroundings ....thank you Colleen from Vintage Home...it was" pink" day at Colleen's unbelievably gorgeous home....she had all things pink waiting for Carol (that's her shopping her little heart out) and myself..... plus a few more surprises....what a talented friend she is....her home is amazing ...A++ goes her way for creativity...inspiration ....warmth and just good old great taste...oh ya...she makes a yummy latte as well...please check out her blog...it's beautiful ...i carted home lots of goodies...guess what i am doing this weekend?.....
....a few of the "pink things" Colleen had waiting for us....i HAD to bring home these pink rose dishes...by coincidence my grandma has the same set in her home....i enjoyed many a hardy meal on dainty plates identical to these.....thanks again Colleen...looking forward to "blue day"!

....saw a bush of pussy willows yesterday....stopped the car and borrowed a few....childhood memories came flooding back.... days hunting for the first signs of spring....rubbing my face with these little tufts of beauty ...while hearing my grandma sing.....tiny fur like buds are sprung...where little kittens once had clung...and that's the legend, so they claim...how pussy willows got their name.

....the afternoon started in search of a perfectly ugly shirt to wear for tacky tourist day at school tomorrow ....and ended with a wonderful cheesy bowl of mac and cheese....
.. my goal was to run QUICKLY into value village..pick out the worse shirt possible.... then finish the rest of my 101 jobs on my list.....i told myself to keep focused and do not get side tracked ....i needed ONLY a shirt...an ugly, ugly shirt.....no dishes...no jewelry...no nothing!!!....well.... one hour plus later i came out with that ugly shirt.... PLUS....a beautiful blue bowl in my favorite color....some green pedal wear plates (i do not collect green pedal wear but may some day..i always tell myself that)....a grab bag full of funky vintage ribbon and wrap...etc....etc... WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME???????....anyways came home with my goodies.....got no other errands done... my bowl was begging to be used....so made the best mac and cheese ever!!!!....oh.. the secret ingredient in my m&c .....a big spoonful of stone ground grainy mustard!!!

natural bling....

....i love the word....glimmer...to shimmer softly..to have a luminous quality...i was skimming through once wed and came to a screeching halt when i saw this unique DIY project that i had to share.....I am amazed and in awe of Laurie...the gal who comes up with these absolutely gorgeous projects...you will never guess what the crystals are....are you ready???.....rock candy!!!....glimmer...shimmer and taste divine...what more could a gal want...check the website out for yourself... you will not be disappointed.....cross my heart.....i have a few projects i am going to try for the upcoming wedding .....

round 1....... breakfast.....the day started with heart shaped french toast and packages tied up in red...


round 2.......lunch.....my daughter Sydney made heart shape grilled cheese for us all........

round 3.....cupcakes and tea at our favorite bakery......Tracycakes.....a day filled with love and treats..... what more could one ask for???!!! ....happy hearts and full tummy's.

Hot pink.....I love doors....I am always taking photos of them....this one hot pink drama queen door was taken in Newport, Rhode Island .....a charming town filled with beautiful huge homes dotting the coastline....and wonderful quaint shops to poke about in.....the hot pink door knob is taken from google image....I thought they made a smart looking couple.....seeing I am still on my pink theme...

momorro lanterns...

.....momorro....the color pink in Japanese....reminded me of my trip to Oak Bluffs on the sweet island of Martha's Vineyard this past summer.....we arrived by ferry and to our unexpected delight it was illumination night....these adorable gingerbread cottages were illuminated only by paper lanterns....what a treat for the eyes....i wanted to move right in....

welcome february......the month of love.....and hope that spring is really on her way....my paperwhites did erupt in a vision of beauty....so delicate and fragrant.....these yummy adorable marshmallows were a special treat i found along the way....I thought they were just too pretty to wait until valentine's day......enjoy.......
