Happy May 31st....

i have reason to celebrate!

We have a new addition to the family....

her name is "Maria"

Here she is .....isn't she adorable?

I am soooooo in love with her..

{i am planning on buying her a welcoming gift....a lovely basket

so she can carry all sorts of goodies}

Summer is coming and we have all sorts of wonderful plans together...

places to go...things to see...

while i was driving i snapped these images ...

i LOVE these cows...

this farm is just down the street from my home...{about 1 minute by car}

i drive by these cows everyday..

and everyday i tell myself i need to take some photos of them...

i have a favorite cow{i always look for her} but could not spot her today as i was driving and snapping...

i really need to just walk down the street one day with my camera...much...much...safer...

i also took this today{while driving} of my bag and umbrella ..

they were sitting on the seat beside me and looked so pretty with the sun shinning in on them...

What Steals your Heart?

a little bit of Saturday morning cleaning...

dusting off my black and white..

{see my new painting of the stacked white mugs...a sweet daughter of one of my best friends painted it and gave it to me...a school art project..what talent}

wishing these new ones were as aged as my old ones...

way... way.... way in the back of my closet i came across my Dr. Scholl's sandals

{i totally forgot i had them...i bought them years ago}

I have fallen in love with them all over again...

i love everything about them....the color..the wooden base...the sweet little buckle...the fact that they could even be considered vintage {i think i had a pair in high school }

and guess what???.. they are even comfy...

i went to Dr. Scholl's and found these....i think i want a pair in every fun color!

....so if you have a pair hanging around your home

why not join me in wearing them this spring and summer!

back in time.....

this is an original art/photo that i have hanging in our bedroom

it's of my great grandma...Maria...who died shortly after it was taken...

i look at her face every morning and evening and find such peace and comfort in it...

when i was younger this exact photo hung in my grandma's bedroom...

i thought it was of an angel ....i still do...

i can see my mom's face in hers....my mom's name is Marie....

my grandma's middle name....my middle name and my middle daughter's middle name are all Marie...

this is where i find my inspiration today...in my great grandma...

i was looking through Cabbages and Roses shop...

these romantic fashions remind me of my great grandma's era

{maybe not exactly the right period but somewhat of the day's gone by}

i love them all....

they match nicely with Cabbages and Roses home selection....

{i am loving gray/black more and more}

How many snickers bars?

Heart of Darkness Brownies...

this is what i was eating all day Sunday...

{my jeans will not zip up today....i am sure each brownie has 1000 calories}

each were made with love by my sweet daughter Syd...

this is her new baking book...STICKY, CHEWY, MESSY, GOOEY

and believe me it DOES live up to it's name....

i am still cleaning up bits of gooey camel and messy chocolate from my walls and floors...

this is the first recipe in the book ....

she has informed us all that she is starting at the beginning and making each yummy treat in order until she has made every last one....

130 treats in total..

so i am expecting to be gaining a little weight real soon..

{she would be devastate if i didn't taste each one}

these brownies contain....{are you sitting down!!}

chocolate squares

pecans

chocolate chips

snickers candy bars{5 full bars...yes 5..it is not a typo}

3 cups of marshmallows

25 caramel candies

heavy cream

you have to have one serious sweet tooth to get through these!!!

{i will be on my exercise bike all week}

in season......

i love the month of May for many reasons.....

a major one being...this is when our local farmer's market starts up...

which means fresh veggies....fruits.....and flowers are now available until well into September...

i made my first Saturday morning trip today.... all the first of the season's produce is so amazingly gorgeous...a beautiful bright bounty of colors...so here is a peek at what i brought home...

spring lilacs and tulips bouquet


a bunch of beautiful colored radishes....not my favorite but couldn't resist the colors...

yes...another bouquet...just couldn't say no to white lilacs (wish i had a bush}....they were dirt cheap

yummy spring rhubarb for a delicious rhubarb cake that i only make in the spring..

bunches of fresh spinach....

red and orange peppers....

i gather them all up altogether....
and
as i was leaving these were calling my name....



fresh cranberry scones.... and cinnamon bread......
it's not all about fruits and veggies in my home!!
hope you have a farmer's market in your area that you can enjoy....


{just in case you are wondering....i have decide to keep the pretty aqua lamp...most of you were so adamant on the fact that it should stay...i did take it away for a day and totally missed it so knew it was a keeper ....thanks for that idea Lottie....you all were such wonderful help..... i knew i could count on you! xoxo..... and husband still has not noticed???!}

....so thought i would ask my daughters once they got home from school...

{i will see how long it will take my husband to notice it....could be a few days or so...he really is no help in any decorating dilemma....things are always coming and going around this house....once i painted the whole living room while he was gone for the weekend ...it went from yellow to blue...didn't even notice!!!}
