That looks so much fun! I have visions of my blob bursting out of the cake and looking like a valentine gone wrong in a horror movie kind of way. I don't think I'm up to the challenge though, as awesome as that would be. My husband is so not a fan of sweet cakes... *sigh*

O I would love to join but I still haven't made those macarons I once promised to make and still want to make. So, let's say, we'll see... If I do make the cake, I'll let you know and post about it, no matter how it turns out... Still have to find foodcolouring first too, ha!
Bye,
Marian

Such a clever idea! I do love to bake, but I never seem to have the patience for cakes. Perhaps I'll give this one a go . . .

Isn't that gorgeous? The problem I have is that my husband doesn't really eat sweets much. He would eat one piece and that would be it...no kids at home anymore to finish it off! So, we know who would eat the rest of the cake...don't we? I can't wait to see yours!

Cathie said...

ooohhh wow!! that looks amazing, I want to make one now!
i don't think it will turn out anywhere like that, maybe a bit blobby, but i'll definitely try it.

thanks for sharing Koralee, looking forward to seeing yours.

hugs to you sweet friend ♥

Good luck on this cake! I'm looking into the cake pan and I've also been thinking of this pretty muffin pan that makes roses! I'll shop for this locally with my 20% off !

Did you have your staff day yet? I love it that your staff days are spiritual ~ this is so much more fruitful than a day of curriculum meetings.

it looks a bit time consuming but i think i would love to try it. i'm not much of a cake decorator so mine may look a bit like a second grader did it!

Totally adorable -- and I really doubt I'm going there! Every year I make Rick a collaged (or something) poetry book for Valentine's Day. I've done pop-ups, reverse books, regular scrapbooks, handwritten... Wel, I have yet to start on the poetry, much less the book. I have a feeling my cooking time is going to be creating in a different way! Let me know how it comes out!

Not Just a Waitress said...

Oh, goodness, Koralee!!
I think this is beyond my expertise!!
I tried to make a Red Velvet Cake for my hubby's and my anniversary a few years ago. I got the recipe from my mom and she told me, "You know, you can make those cakes from a box now." "Oh, NO!" I told her, I would be making this very special cake from scratch!!!
I went to the market and got all the ingredients, and condensed buttermilk was called for in the recipe.
I got all the items and put them in the bowl, and mixed them up just as it said...then it told me to "pour" the batter into the cake pans. I thought to myself, "Pour? More like PUT!"
I didn't add the water that made the buttermilk butterMILK!!! HaHa!! So, the cake, made with such love, didn't end up really becoming cake at all!!
Haaaa!! My husband dutifully tried it, as he was in a generous, anniversary mood. :)
It was just AWFUL.
I would say that I've become a better baker since then but not really. I did learn my lesson though, now I just buy the kind in the BOX!!!! Add oil and eggs and we're good to go!!
Hope you are having a happy week!!! :) :) :) Blessings!! :)

Hope you have a beautiful weekend!

I'm game. It's a beautiful cake and looks like fun. I used to love to bake fantastic cakes from Chocolatier magazine, though lately the best I can do is to bake the birthday cakes for my two children.

I was the woman who made her first wedding cake for her own wedding. The only downside to this challenge for me is the reality that my 12-year-old daughter is gluten free and while she isn't Celiac intolerant, she gets migraines and severe stomach aches when she is exposed to even small amounts. So far the gluten-free baked goods we have tried have all been pretty terrible. Maybe I will start to search and experiment in an attempt to find a terrific cake I can make for her and we can all eat the gluten-not-free cake. Can't wait.

Too yummy !! I'm heading out tomorrow to get the ingredients and making this cake.... Now I'm curious if there are other shapes you can create in a cake.
