In a pinch, I've made nice duvets with flat sheets...using the matching pillow cases for shams. Sew it up on three sides (like a giant pillow case) then add ties, buttons or velcro to the open end! Très easy!

Love your mending kit and Maria has an excellent and easy way to create a duvet! You my dear have mega talent, it might not necessarily be with a sewing machine...but you have oodles of talent!!!
I love your mending kit, it is so charming. Cath Kidston is amazing!! My sewing machine is just sitting on the table in my craft room waiting to get used. I need to take some classes. You are very talented indeed and I bet if you wanted to you would sew beautifully!!! Now you have me wanting to sign up for a local sewing class...so many dreams and too little time.

You have everyone's support here....you CAN do it, but the question is, do you really want to? When all else fails there's IKEA {I know you have that in BC!}.
I can't sew either, maybe they don't teach us Canadians very well! Great sewing kit though.

I have a sewing machine that I picked up at a yard sale, but it's currently just collecting dust, I haven't yet used it. That is a beautiful duvet though, I'm sure you could piece one together!
Trial & Error...that's how we do it!(sometimes more error)

Ooo honey you would not let me near a sewing machine. I did sewing at school and stitched the garment to my skirt, I don't even know how I did that ... I did daydream a lot.

I love my hand sewing and crochet as long as everything is free form which means that I design as I go...very nonconforming.
I can machine sew with the best of them but making a duvet cover...I'm afraid would be boring for me...it's awful I know..I'd rather have someone else sew that type of stuff so I can play with my designs..:0)
I bet if you wanted to sit down and sew curtains and that duvet cover you could! And even with that cute little sewing kit...remember our sisters of the past would sit for hours sewing by hand and wind up with those beautiful quilts. :0)

I adore September too! Fall is one of my favourite times of year. I can't sew to save my life and have always resorted to using my glue gun when in a pinch. Many of the things I've used in shoots were glued together! My mom is the one who sews - she is my go to gal.
I love to sew! BUT before you learn how to sew, you will also need to learn how to draft out the patterns. I sucked at that. Which is why I've chosen to sell handmade paper products and not clothes. lol.

ok, i would not belong to the blogger group that would be able to make a duvet or a bolster... well maybe just the duvet cover if it had no zippers or buttons and sewing straight lines wasn't mandatory.. then maybe.
