{how to be happy.....}

... redecorate

....it works for me
I am forever moving my "stuff" around
just this past weekend...
my kitchen table became my dinning room table
my dinning room became my living room
my bookshelf became my china cupboard
my curtains became pillow shams
my pink dishes got out of the way for my white ones
my bathroom cabinet moved into my kitchen
the downstairs church pew moved upstairs
my telephone got a new corner
{yes...this is the main phone in my home}
.....give me a month and I will be rearranging again
my poor husband never knows where to find anything

Wow, Koralee, you must have the MUSCLES to move that much stuff around!!! I'm betting it is all lovely, like you and that Mr. Blue Bird is quite proud of you and your home : ) I just read a quote last night that said rearranging things in the home, for a lot of women, is like making their home a "Summer House." I liked that image and here it is, again, in your post! Happy Thursday!

Ha, my husband lives the same life. In our last home, I would randomly paint walls while he was at work, said he never knew what color he would find when he came home. So fun! Says the four words he dreads most are "I have an idea".

I love doing that too! It's about time but now I'm waiting until I move! Jennifer:)

LOVE IT! That's how my sister is. Every time go to her house things are moved around. It keeps things fresh and new. I should start moving things around. Next time she comes to visit I am going to set her creative mind into action!

See you tomorrow for Friday Pretties!

Ahhhh the story of my life! When I was little my mom constantly had me helping her move furniture around and redecorate rooms. She was also obsessed with painting the rooms all the time too. Well, it seems, much to MY poor husband's dismay, that it rubbed off on me. He always tells me he can't find stuff (but I just blame that on him being a guy). LOVED this post, everything sounds fabulous and the little peeks you gave us look wonderful!!

Bonnie

Hahaha-a girl after my own heart. I did take in my breath when i read you'd moved your church pew upstairs! That took strength. My DH usually takes a while to fully appreciate my brilliant re-arranging ideas. Why is that?!

I'll bet your hubby never goes into a room in the dark expecting to be able to sit down safely- he'd never know if the chairs have been moved! Great post.

I couldn't agree more! I have Jonathan Adler's book called "My Prescription for Anti-Depressive Living" and it's all about decorating and use of color and it just makes me happy reading it! Way to mix it up!

I thought my mom had written this post! She is ALWAYS moving stuff around. It used to drive my dad nuts, but now he just shrugs it off because it'll never end, LOL. Each time I'd come home from college, I never knew where anything was anymore or if I was in the same house! And now she's gotten me into the habit of puttering and moving things around. I think it opens up the spaces for new energy!

I love love love that phone!

I have a friend who does the same thing and I love it! But I am such a creature of habit, my house has been the same for YEARS! However ... I am going to be having some work done in my basement soon, and then I am totally going to MiX iT uP upstairs too! YOU have inspired me!!! :)

I am in love with the photos today!

Your color palette is adorable. For a sec I thought, would love to phone you right now, knowing you will pick up that gorgeous phone! The black petit chair against the beautiful wall is so so stylish. It clearly shows you have 'the eye' for decorating, sweet friend.
I'm not that kind of moving around much, but I can imagine though a piece in an other room will work very uplifting.
Enjoy your lunch out of the sweetest lunch bag ever! xx and some more xx

I love the Black with the Blue - so Glamorously Dramatic. I too move furniture and rooms about - it's my way of deep cleaning (might as well dust it if I'm moving it). It's nice to know I'm in good company...I think all of hubbies need a support group!

I love to move things around. I'm a bit limited because the main part of my house has very few walls, but I try anyway! Love some of your things:)

FrenchBlue said...

Dear Koralee,
I hear you! I used to move things every saturday when my husband went to work:) It was my favorite day of the week, especially after yard sales:) It was his worst day of the week... he claimed that he never knew what he was going to come in and see changed or brought into the house. I love weird things...thank goodness for him, I finally got tired of moving things as much and have decided to clear out instead of bringing in. I like what you do, just change it from room to room. You are so creative and I would love to see your house someday my sweet friend!

Hi Koralee.. I would do this all the time, but at the moment I am too busy stressing with my husband who is a hoarder .. we are also still decorating our house, or at least trying too. Older house .. not looked after at all.. it is a pain actually , secretly wish we had not bought it.. I should of put my foot down and bought a modern one, already done.. also my husband is away a lot, and stuff is not getting done, and he is also of the kind , if it is not broken why change it.. ie, I want to strip it entirely inside .. need I say anymore, you have a truly beautiful house.

Frances said...

Ohhhh, you remind me so much of my mother. We grew up on a farm and she was ALWAYS rearranging things in the house. She was a ball of energy. And I think you must be, too. I surely love all the Pretties you have shown us. The colors are wonderful and melt my heart on this Friday morning as I'm having my first cup of coffee. I wish you could provide a link to "energy" and that all we would have to do would be to click the link and be filled. Sigh. May this coming week be full of wonder for you. Hugs ....

I used to do this constantly, Koralee. But I had a major remodel about 4 years ago and I am still loving everything. Haven't moved a blessed thing in all that time! I am amazed at myself. I wonder if it's my age?
