{pretty cookie trouble}

I was so excited to make one of my favourite recipes
Pinwheel Cookies
{happy dance}
I have made this particular recipe many times before
the results are always beautiful
this time I decided I would use some
pretty candy sprinkles to adorn them
so I carefully rolled them in the sprinkles
{happy dance}
wrapped them up and put them in the fridge to firm up
for easy slicing
{happy dance}

when the time came to bake them
I started slicing them up
{happy dance...just look how pretty they are}
I told my entire family.........
"These are going to be nothing short of specatular"
  I popped them in the oven
happy dance
happy dance
happy dance
{yes it was kinda sicken how happy I was}
well..............
Any guesses what happened?
?
?
?
?
?
?
?
 those deceivingly pretty sprinkles
totally melted into one big yucky mess in the oven
causing my smoke detector to go off
and my tears to flow
{a little exaggerating on the tear part}
sorry no photos as I was too disappointed to think of taking any

one never to give up
I made them again with these sprinkles
And all ended well

lesson learned.....not all sprinkles are melt proof

Well they certainly made a gorgeous photo pre-oven. I would have been tempted to just eat them in raw cookie dough style. Glad you had a plan B that baked well...

So glad you were able to make them after all! They do look so pretty and yummy. How do you know which sprinkles won't melt? Trial and error? Or is there a certain consistency in brands or types? Hope you're having a wonderful, sweetness filled weekend.

Beautiful sprinkles, no more. They really were pretty.

I have recently experienced a "smokin oven" and the smoke alarm didn't go off. (yes, we checked and it works.). Not fun is it?

Your next cookie batch looks pretty and yummy too!!!

(Difficult to read the verification words . . . hope this works.)

Thank you so much for sweetening my heart today. Nothing like a pinwheel goodness of pink to brighten a day.

Hi Koralee!
Oh so happy that you found success!
I can only imagine the let down. They were spectacular indeed and looked great during their "photo shoot."

I hope you had a great weekend! I have this week free from school...but will be helping my father until Wednesday.
I'll be making his favorite cookies tomorrow morning. Date Bars ~ with fresh dates and walnuts. I think their one of my faves too!

I wish you a sweet week with lots of sprinkles all around ♥

Happy it all went okay for you the second time... :-)

Well... when I looked at your photos I thought it was marzipan. (Don't need the oven and the pretty sprinkles would survive! Idea?)
