{advent socks}

It's that time of year again....
to get the advent socks up and ready for
December 1st!
these blue and grey socks were last years.....
I had such a hard time finding cute socks this year....

this is what I came up with....
everyday they are filled with a small treat....
I use a little chalkboard tag to keep track of the date
{thank you saskia for the little blackboard tag}
then after 24 days of treats...everyone gets the
socks to wear
Christmas Eve!

even though my miss molly is not here this year....
I still had to add her into the fun
{I actually mailed all her treats to England so she could play along}

tomorrow the fun begins

how do you countdown to Christmas?

how darling are those socks? our tradition is
quite mundane in comparison . . .

we make a giant paper chain of colored paper
and cut off a link each day. when the kids were
little, they thought it was so much fun, taking
turns.

now that they are 18, 20, 22, 24, and 26, they
still want me to do it.

praying for you sweet molly. we got our hailey
back!!!!

Way to go, Mom. I know you will have made Molly's day. I don't really need to tell you just how I feel about those gray knit socks, Do I? I think you already know. Too cute to continue on, without getting overly sapp-ie....

Good Day Wishes,
Kate

Such a cute idea. It is hard when our loved ones are far away. I am getting ready to head to the airport and say goodbye to my adult children and 4 of my grandchildren. So hard, but so blessed to have them all in my life.

Very cute idea. I normally buy one of those generic countdowns with chocolate behind each number. I couldn't find it this year. We have done paper chains before. I have a large snowman that hangs on the door and you put a wooden star in the numbered pocket. I don't know what I will do this year. I better get thinkin'.

oH MY! i love your way of counting down. And those socks are CUTE...both styles.
MM you have me thinking :)

Very cute! How sweet of you to send all the treats to Molly. :) We have an advent calendar gingerbread house with little doors. There will be a little piece of paper in each door that has an activity for my kids. Tomorrow's will be "hang candy canes on the tree".

Oh!!! What an adorable idea! Love your pretty socks! This year my oldest daughter (Candice) bought a LEGO calendar as a combination birthday present for Dylan and Zoe (our grandchildren). Starting on Dec. 1st they will take turns opening the door, and building the surprise LEGO toy for that day. They are excited to start it! :)

Your snowman on your banner is SOOOO sweet. Love that with all of it's sparkles!! :)

Have a cozy, warm day my sweet friend! I am saying a prayer for you and Molly today. My heart goes out to you, I know what it is like having a beloved daughter far from home. ((((hugs)))) to you!

Koralee, i just love your idea with the socks! I might even copy it. My kids are big, but they still fancy a kalendar with treats. I used to make 24 little bags, but since 2 years am too lazy for that. The 4 socks might be the solution! Have a fun 1st of dez, xox

I have a wooden advent calendar that has little doors and inside is just big enough for a small treat. Each door is numbered. Your socks are lovely and I think the whole idea is so fun and festive. I know my kids would enjoy the treat each day when they were small. I'm so glad you daughter that is far away can join in. She must just love that. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x5

I love your tradition! I have not heard of that before. You pick the cutest socks. I felt a pain in my heart when you said you have a sock up for your Molly even though she is not there, but how fun for her to get her treats in the mail! I put up my sons nutcracker collection with a big lump in my throat. We will get through this together, Koralee!

What a warm and wonderful advent tradition, Koralee! I've never heard of doing this before & I love it!

Thank-you so much for the lovely cards--I just received them yesterday! Also appreciated your beautiful card. I always love seeing the handwriting of someone I've come to know only via blogging...a little more personal and sweet.

I hope you're having a wonderful night, my friend!

Dear, dear 100th visitor, AGAIN! Teeheee! AND YOUR PRIZE IS FINALLY GOING INTO THE POST TODAY!!! Do you know why it is so late? Everytime I come out of work, the post is CLOSED!!! But NO MEETINGS TODAY, NO CONFERENCES...so, as soon as my little munchkins that I adore are on the bus, SO AM I and off to the post! Sheesh, it's not like it is a HUGE thing, but I need to have the right amount of postage! Oh Koralee, I am so happy that you can have your tea time now, even if it is just warm....your tooth is gonna heal right up and back to business will you be! I am also so happy to be a part of your prayer circle, knowing that we are all connected. May you have a sweet day with YOUR students; I know that they must love you to pieces. What a blessing, n'est-ce pas?

Hi Koralee,

Lovely sweet idea with the beautiful grey socks.
I used to make advent calenders for my children with a chocolate or sweet behind each door.
When my son was small I remember him nibbling at half the chocolate on some of them, even before the day.

Happy Day
Hugs
Carolyn
