remember these?
Hostess Cupcakes
I found them in
strawberry
the other day
usually not something I would put into my
shopping cart
but I couldn't resist how pretty they looked
as pretty as they may be..........I would only give them a 2 out of 10 for taste
remember looks can deceive
a lesson I forgot
be pretty today......inside and out

Looks very lovely, a shame it didn't taste as good!
Have a lovely weekend!
Eva

Have a wonderful weekend, Koralee!!

You should make your own! Then they can be beautiful AND delicious!
so pretty :-) too bad the taste didn't match... have a beautiful friday!
How yummy! I ate alot of hostess chocolate cupcakes as a kid... it is still hard for me to resist them.
I see you are following me... silly me on your last post.

a very good lesson indeed! because they sure do look like they would be yummy. have a fabulous weekend my friend. xoxox
Hello,
It looks pretty, but I agree, you never know until you try it...
Gabriela
Dear Koralee,
The cupcakes look delicious indeed. I love the rose plate too. It's so pretty! It looks a bit like the plates I have in my garden house.
Happy weekend,
Madelief x
Oh My, how pretty are these?! I have seen recipes for the chocolate version online and now I'm wanting to do these from scratch! Thank you for making my day! Jina
{Oh my goodness! Just left you a long message and it got lost in cyberspace! So, if you find two similar messages from me...that's why!}
Was so excited to get the newest edition of "Where Women Cook" yesterday (quickly becoming my favorite of all magazines), and finding my dear friend Koralee in it once again! Your article, as always, was the sweetest of all...my daughters always love your pieces...as does their mother!
Wishing you the loveliest day, sweet friend...and thank-you for the important reminder about true beauty....perfect.
Julie
I don't buy these either, but my children insisted, just because it was a new color and look so appealing, but I gotta tell ya, none of them enoyed the taste of these....Wishing you a lovely weekend Koralee! Xoxoxo
oh boy , those are my favorite! Along with twinkies!! it's so hard to resist, so I don't buy them, I would eat the whole box.
Remember, some times it's not about how it tastes, it all about the picture and being blog-worthy. And this one my friend, is blog-worthy, even if it was trash bound after. It is amamzing what jumps in our carts for the blog.
So true, Koralee...but that cupcake does look yummy! Have a lovely weekend, my friend.
Strawberry hostess cakes??? I must find them! They look so pretty! =)
Melanie's Randomness
I have also been guilty of buying boxed treats because they looked pretty. I love the heart- shaped cakes at Valentines...you know the pale pink icing with the little white squigglies? Oh, and you can't forget the strawberry marshmallows! But you're totally right-the pretty factor totally outweighs the taste.
Bon week-end,
Mandy
You are right, they are pretty but I wouldn't eat them, too much sugar!
Well, at least you got a WONDERFUL PHOTO out of this!! You make anything look like a 10!!!! HAPPY WEEKEND BEFORE the return of the CHILDREN!!!
Oh, I am already tired! BIG HUGS TO YOU MY FRIEND, Anita
But they look so adorable, who cares!
Those look so good! I've never had one before. where did u get them?
have a great long weekend :)
Yep looks can deceive, even a cupcake like that. Can't blame you for falling for it I 'd have done the same!
Hi Koralee,
But they look like they should be delicious!
I love the sweet pink and your lovely plate.
Have a happy weekend
Hugs
Carolyn
Oh my, how funny.. I hadn't had a Hostess cupcake for centuries, but before we went camping at the lake a box of those jumped in our cart too, the chocolate ones. Actually, they tasted pretty good! LOL
((hugs)), Teresa :-)
A beautiful shot to start my early Saturday morning to. Have a grand weekend sweet Koralee. Will think of you, especially on Tuesday, when you are amongst the little monkeys again. A happy happy first day at school! Lots and lots of love xxxxx
Hope you have a fabulous weekend Koralee - beautiful photo, such pretty colours but I bet your homemade cakes taste so much better :-) (Is your daughter home now from the UK?) Kisses Kitty xxx
mmmmmmmm just looking overhere ....looks good .
still enjoying the magazine .....
I am searching overhere for a dutch kind-of-the-same .... to send to you ....have not found yet ....
Summer decided to come along after all .....
Makes everything so light and colourfull ...
Love that ! I guess you do too !
I have been making cupcakes today, they have to taste good AND look good, otherwise they are not cupcakes to me. Possibly this is why I never buy them...
Have a good Sunday
Ciao

SWEET DARLIN'!!! OF COURSE YOU MAY USE THE ERASERS!!! Just go to the VIA to get the photographer's name...I was sent an email earlier this week from a photographer that was not happy with me for not citing her properly. Touché.
ENJOY and I AM SO EXCITED. I have the cutest and most interesting students! AND YOU...THEY HAVE GOT TO LOVE Miss Koralee!!!! Oh, can you believe it???? WE ARE UNITED IN SPIRIT HERE.....Love you, Anita
OH! And if I would had seen that eraser picture sooner, I would have individually wrapped the pink erasers I have for them in wax paper. Isn't that the prettiest way to present them?????
LOVE !!!!
Anita
ALL THOSE GOODIES FROM YEARS AGO DO NOT TASTE LIKE THEY DID, I THINK THEY MAKE THEM WITH CHEAP
INGREDIENTS, AND LOTS AND LOTS OF SUGAR. I FOUND THE SNOWBALL CUPCAKES, AND THEY TOO WERE A DISAPPOINTMENT, BUT I AM SO BAD....I ATE IT ANYWAY. HAVE A GREAT DAY....RIZZI
My dear Koralee, I want to know, how, how did i miss so many of your posts????? got some serious catching up to do!
xo sandra
They are pretty! But a 2 !!! YUCK!
Have a pretty day!
Kristin
Thanks for the visit Koralee, and I will absolutley enjoy myself. Its a long away til summer returns.
Oh what a bummer that they didn't taste as good as they looked! Cute picture though :)
Perfect lesson!
You are a great teacher!
I remember those cupcakes and yes, they were not very tasty!
Your cookie in the sidebar though, that wrapped up oreo ~ now THAT'S an amazing treat!
Yummalicious inside and outside :o)
Happy Sunday to you dear ♥
Wishing you sunshine and JOY,
Maria
Hello!
I got my Matthew Mead fall catalog in the mail and it is FABULOUS! It was such a special treat since we're in the midst of remodeling the main part of the new house and everything is far from charming and in complete disarray! A mini visual vacation was just what I needed! Thanks again!
xo
they look yummie... but i am a chocolate girl all the way...
lets dine on one next time i see you! we saw homemade ones back east at this amazing bakery... cannot believe i did not order one... cookies instead! i still dream about it!
wishing you a wonderful weekend sweet friend... xoxoxoxoxo
They're so pretty but you are right. So often cakes that look like this are just pure sugar with no taste at all. If it had been in France I suppose it would have looked pretty AND tasted amazing. I still think they do the prettiest cakes in the world there
That is too bad that these lovely treats did not taste as good as they look. You are right ~ sometimes a lopsided cake tastes the best! :)
Happy September Koralee!
xo Catherine
Oh but they are pretty for sure! My husband would look at me like I had lost my mind if I brought them home, but I probably would give in to the temptation. I don't think I have seen strawberry ones for a very long time, if ever.
