a sweet hello

what do you do if your daughter tells you
she forgot to mention that it is her turn to bring the cookies?
you reach for this recipe
it has saved us on many occasions
super easy
tastes amazing
5 ingredients
*
1- 1/2 cups butter
1- 1/2 cups brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 cups flour
1 cup chocolate chips or m&m pieces - i always add more
{ i used red and pink m&ms for the ones above }
*
oven 350F
mix butter, brown sugar and vanilla
with an electric mixture
until completely combined
{ light and fluffy }
add flour
mix on low for a few minutes
stir in chips or m&ms
*
place dough on a standard size baking sheet
{ I always cover my baking sheet with parchment paper first }
press into an even layer covering the entire pan
bake for 20 to 25 mins
until golden brown
let cool for 5 mins
then cut into however many squares/cookies you need
don't let cool too much before cutting as they will crack
*
sometimes if I have an extra moment I will drizzle white or dark chocolate
over the baked bars before cutting
*
mine may look a little thicker than yours
these ones I baked in a smaller pan
I do like the thinner version
*
happy monday

Oh, yum! That is almost an M and M shortbread. That is my favorite cookie and a little chocolate would only make it better. Definitely a keeper!

Sounds like shortbread cookies which I love and miss so (gluten allergy now). I remember those days very well. Reminds me of when my daughter was about 9 and she told me, as I was putting her to bed, that she was supposed to make and take the Nile River Valley to school the next day. That was a late night with clay and construction paper for sure :)

You are such a domestic goddess my Friend... this Gramma would quickly and unceremoniously run to the Store Bakery and pick up enough for the Granbabies class! *winks* The Kids would probably appreciate that I DIDN'T bake the cookies! *LOL* The Man jokes that there are very few Men alive to tell about my cooking! And once the younger Grandchild told me she knew I wasn't cooking and Granpa was because the smoke alarms hadn't gone off!!! Ah well, out of the mouths of babes...

Thanks for visiting, yes, the place that sold those boots had the most amazing styles and materials... a virtual Gallery of Boots... I SO wanted a pair!

Hi Koralee {I know it's late ;o) Tonight it's because Amanda flew in from CA and her plane was 2 hours late from Chicago! Thank God Chris decided to meet her at LaGuardia in NYC. She would have been stranded with no train back to her apt.
Anyway...it's always worth the extra time to stop here ♥ Your bar cookies look amazing. When I was younger, we called these butterscotch brownies, although I think this recipe is closer to a shortbread ~ either way - it looks mouthwatering. The colorful m & m's really make it special. Green is next for St. Patrick's day!
A Happy Monday back to you {in NY it's Tuesday though ;o)
Take care dear ♥
xoxo

They look yummy! Just one question though. How do you manage to hide the M&M's until you get a chance to make these? They are gobbled up as soon as they enter our house :-) Maybe if I show them your beautiful photo I'll be able to convince my family to wait for these delicious looking cookies.
Blessings,
Marcia
